F-IRE FESTIVAL ŒRHYTHMIC FRONTIERS‚
@ Kings Place, 26-28 MAY
F-IRE boldly reaches to the corners of the globe, to collect and connect traditions old and new. ...the impassioned rhythms of Hungarian gypsy music with Tcha Limberger, the once-and still revolutionary language of bebop distilled by Django Bates‚ Beloved Bird, the mesmerizing beauty of the Iranian Zarb from Keyvan Chemirani with Thôt and Stéphane Payen's wondrous complex polyrhythmic compositions, leading on from F-IRE's educational work, a team of students from the Royal Academy of Music and further afield, plays music from the frontiers of world rhythm and the epic South American film-scapes of Jonny Phillips' Oriole. Before each evening's events, there are free presentations mapping the frontiers of world rhythm.
